a gift set I put together for a kid
its my nephews 7th birthday and I think he will appreciate this gift. His dad collected coins when he was a kid so I think he will like it plus I culled all this stuff from my existing stock so I'm not laying out any new money for it. its about a $20 value, anyways, and beter than some piece of junk from China:
One Littleton 50 state Quarter folder 12 different BU state quarters, including earlier dates and harder to find four quarters in 2x2s: one 1997 BU quarter (to show the earlier design), one 64D silver quarter ave circ, one 64 proof silver quarter, one VF 1926 standing liberty silver quarter. Anyhow if he doesnt like it my kids will and then he will reconsider once they try and steal it from him LOL |
Re: a gift set I put together for a kid
That's great. I try and get my middle daughter some silver or gold every time Christmas or her birthday roll around. She's probably got a little more gold and silver now than the average 11-year-old. She's had fun filling her State Quarter folders and she has a couple of penny folders. I've also given her a couple of the Silver Proof State Quarter sets. I explain that those are "real", not the junk they give you to carry around in your pocket. I'll try and continue to at least get her a couple Silver eagles or a 1/10oz Gold piece everytime. She appricieates it and has always been a saver. I really wish the President series dollar proof coins came in something other than worthless metal. If they at least made them in copper I'd buy them, but as it is I've decided to just not bother with them.

Re: a gift set I put together for a kid
My mother-in-law gave me a pretty nice Morgan Dollar last christmas. Regardless of the monitary value at the time, I appreciate it a lot more than say a "Dinner Certificate" for a fancy restaurant or some other thing that I know won't last. My wife might not feel the way about that though.
